Cervical Screening

It is recommended that all women have a cervical screening test (cervical smear test) every three years from age 25 to 49 and every five years from age 50 to 64.  The risk of developing cervical cancer can be significantly reduced by having regular screening.

Cervical screening tests are performed by our practice nurses.  You will receive an invitation letter when you are due for your next test.  When you receive this letter you should telephone your usual surgery to book an appointment with one of our nurses.

For more information about the NHS Cervical Screening Programme and the benefits of cervical screening, visit the NHS Cervical Screening Programme website.  You can also download the NHS Cervical Screening Leaflet.
