NHS Health Checks

Introduction

The Red House Group offers free NHS Health Checks every five years to patients between the ages of 40 and 74 who are not otherwise being seen for a pre-existing medical condition. These checks are conducted by our Health Care Assistants (HCAs) in their regular clinics and normally last about 20 minutes.

What is an NHS Health Check?

The NHS Health Check is a nationally defined health check aimed at adults aged 40 to 74. It is designed to assess your risk of developing diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, stroke and dementia.

Crucially, your NHS Health Check can detect potential problems before they do real damage. Everyone is at risk of developing heart disease, stroke, diabetes, kidney disease and some forms of dementia. The good news is that these conditions can often be prevented.

Your NHS Health Check will assess your risk of developing these health problems and give you personalised advice on how to reduce it. The test is free of charge, including any follow-up tests or appointments.

For more information, including what happens at an NHS Health Check and how it can help you, please visit the NHS Health Check Website.
